This 2004 comedy film takes place in the teen world, partially based on the real-life Rosalind Wiseman´s book “Queen Bees and Wannabes”. The movie describes in a comical matter the typical problems that female teens go through during high school, and the impact these problems have upon the teenager girls. Actors in the movie include Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Tina Fey, Lacey Chabert, Lizzy Caplan, Daniel Franzese, Jonathan Bennett and Amanda Seyfried.

The movie was very adapted to the time, displaying realistic problems and scenarios lived by teenager girls in high school. Despite having a comedy twist, the film had a pretty good impact on the overall audience, especially teenagers. The plot was very well developed, the film explained present problems while still maintaining an excellent comedy sense. The acting of Lindsay Lohan, Tina Fey, and debuting star Amanda Seyfried were brilliant and heavily praised.

The food chain Taco Bell also participated here, as they posted a response to Obama’s publication, with quotes and references to the movie as well. While being a teen comedy film, it managed to display the harshness of girl to girl behaviours during high school. Additionally, it inspired Warner Bros to plan the movie “Mean Moms” starring the star Jennifer Aniston in a similar kind of movie. Despite having some unstable events, the movie was confirmed and launched.

Not everyone seemed so inspired about the movie. After some time, the film received heavy critiques for the way they display life during high school. Part of the public was completely against the manner in which the movie directors explain how high school is ruled by a specific group of people in a high socioeconomic status, and how certain races and groups of people from lower statuses are displayed as inferior in relation to those popular characters.

Psychology debates were held where they expressed that the way the movie portrays hierarchy in high school can socially and psychologically affect the teenagers in the audience. Additionally, people made blogs against the movie and how they “produce strong and harmful effects on individuals, altering public perception on various events by utilizing various strategies such as propaganda, the social learning theory, and Bandura’s social cognitive theory”.
