Born on 6th August 1976 in Perth, Western Australia, Melissa Suzanne George is an actress who stars in both Australian and American movies and drama series. Born as the second child to a family of four children, Melissa George was the daughter of Pamela and Glenn George a nurse and a construction worker in profession respectively.
Melissa George was initially interested in the field of dancing rather than acting and she studied various types of dancing such as jazz and ballet. She later learnt roller-skating and also became a national roller-skating champion in Australia by the age of 16.

After dropping out of high school, George started a career in modeling. The attention she gained during her modeling days is what brought her her first role as an actress in an Australian soap opera, Home and Away in the year 1988.
She moved to Los Angeles, United States in 1996 to pursue a career in Hollywood movies. Her debut in the American film industry was the science fiction movie Dark City in 1998. She continued starring in supporting roles of crime movies like The Limey (1999) by Steven Soderbergh and Mulholland Drive (2001) by David Lynch.
She also appeared in a number of popular TV series such as Friends, Grey’s Anatomy, Alias, In Treatment, and Lie to Me from the years 2003 to 2010. George was able to achieve a nomination for the Best Supporting actress in series, mini-series, or television film at the Golden Globe Awards 2005 for her role in In Treatment.

George’s previous roles in movies of crime and thriller genre got her more roles in similar movies such as the remake of The Amityville Horrorand commercially success thriller, Derailed in 2005. She also starred in a vampire movie called 30 Days of Night in 2007 and several other thrillers such as Turistas in 2006 andthe psychological thriller Triangle in 2009. She gained major critical acclamation for her character in Triangle and herself stated that it was one of the most difficult characters she has played in her career.
The Comedy side of Melissa George
Melissa George also played a role in the American teen comedy movie, Sugar and Spice directed by Francine McDougall in the year 2001. The story revolves around a group of cheerleaders in a high school who commit a serious crime. George played the role of Cleo, one of the four main teenage girls in the movie.
A Lonely Place to Die (2011) is another thriller movie starring Melissa George. She was able to grab the Logie award for the Most Outstanding Actress for her role in the Australian drama series The Slap in 2011. She also played a role in the British- American drama series Hunted and another series called The Good Wife in the subsequent years. She also gained the main role of a US medical drama TV series named Heartbeat.
Melissa’s love life took a turn when she met her ex-husband Claudio Dabed of Chilean origin in the year 1998. She tied the knot with him after two years of love in year 2000. This marriage lasted for 10 years after which George fell in love with her present boyfriend Jean-David Blanc with whom she has two sons as of today.
